BRIDGE TEAM MANAGEMENT COURSE
(REFRESHER COURSE)
AIM
The aim of this course is to promote effective Bridge Team Management procedures.
OBJECTIVES
On completion of the course the trainees should
- Be able to prepare and execute a detailed passage plan.
- Be aware of the need to achieve the best use of available resources for the safe navigation of the ship.
- Be able to use effective communication skills within a bridge team.
- Be aware of the necessity and value of effective response to navigational emergencies.
- Be able to interpret and make proper use of the ships maneuvering data.
TRAINING PLAN
The course is designed in such a way as to create an opportunity for participants to discuss and implement best practice with regard to bridge team management procedures. It will also highlight the consequences of weakness in such procedures and in the organization of the bridge team.
The objective of the course is best achieved by a series of simulated exercises, aided by films and discussion. The exercises include coastal passages, landfalls, pilotage and navigational emergencies.
