HULL & TANK INSPECTION COURSE
AIM
The aim of the Hull and Tank Inspection Course is to enable ships officers to carry out inspections in an appropriate manner so that defects are correctly described and the inspection reports are easily understood.
OBJECTIVES
On completion of the course the trainees should be able to:
- Evaluate criteria for coating, corrosion and other structure failures.
- Develop maintenance strategies.
- Identify specific areas that need attention.
- make inspection reports.
TRAINING PLAN
The course will cover the following topics:
- Introduction to hull stress theory.
- Why to carry out tank inspection.
- Preparation for inspection.
- Structural defects and coating deficiencies.
- Critical Locations for common structural defects in double hull tankers
(hot spots)
- Inspection procedure.
- Report
